Method of evaluation Grading is entirely based on homework assignments. These will be handed out and collected weekly. Besides a small number of analytical (pencil-and-paper) problems they will be based on computer simulations of models that are provided in program form.
Requirements No texts need to be read. No other classes are required. However, some familiarity with mathematical notation and computer use would be helpful. The homework assignments will be in JAVA. As some students struggle with the mathematics used in the course, the following textbook is recommended as background:
"Steven H. Strogatz (1994) Nonlinear dynamics and chaos: with applications to physics, biology, chemistry, and engineering. Addison-Wesley, Reading. ISBN 0-201-54344-3."
Else  The first few classes will be given by Alexander Heinrichs. He can also be contacted with questions and with requests for reading material.
